Guelaguetza Bike Trip

The Guelaguetza Festival is a celebration in which representatives from the many communities of Oaxaca come together and celebrate the diversity of their traditions and cultures. The state of Oaxaca is home to 16 different ethnolinguistic groups and is incredibly diverse.

For the Guelaguetza, members of these groups gather wearing their traditional clothing and perform folk dances that are particular to their region. At the end of the dancing, they throw items to the crowd, products that come from the region they represent.

We will mix mexican traditions with more than 30 trails in 7 days. Oaxaca is considered de mecca of mexican Enduro scene with a big range of options for mountain bikers around the world.

For this reason the Enduro World Series and many national championships choose Oaxaca to be one of the best spots to make races every year.

We will visit San Sebastian Etla, Ixtepeji and other close regions for riders to experience the most epic trails Oaxaca has to offer.

This is an 8 day trip, prepare yourself to ride 3 different locations around Oaxaca.

Everyday will have breakfast at 7:00 am, meal time at 3:00 pm and dinner at 8:00 pm

SCHEDULE:

31 July: Bike Park & arrival day.

Ground Transportation from Mexico City departs at 7:00 am. We pick you up at the airport ( Mexico City or Oaxaca airport) anytime, please schedule with time.

We will check in at our bungalows and try our bikes in a special bike park with lots of ramps and features.

At night we have appointed a nice dinner in a special restaurant. Ground transportation from Mexico City departs at 7:00 am.

1 to 3rd of August: Ixtepeji, also known as Whistlerpeji, will be fully rided by our guests.

We will ride every course ( +22) that Ixtepeji has to offer in 3 days.

Breakfast will always be served at our hotel with traditional food, meals around Ixtepeji’s local restaurants and dinner in local places close to our hotel.

4 to 5th of August:

San Sebastian Etla is well known for its new trails, aiming to compete with Ixtepeji’s world famoso scene.

We will travel to the other side of the mountain in order to ride 2 more days.

6th of August: Guelaguetza Party. We will ride from the top of the mountain to Oaxaca’s main streets ( 20 HARD kms) , where we will enjoy taking pictures around the city with our bikes.

We will come back to the hotel for the main meal, but we will come back to the city to enjoy the last saturday this festival has to offer.

7th of August: We go back to our homes. We drop off everyone at the airport. Ground transportation to Mexico City leaves at mid-day ( 7 hours drive).
